Have participants cover transaction fees

Have participants cover transaction fees

You've put time and effort into setting up a campaign, selling tickets or products. But like everything else in life, it comes with transaction fees payable to the platform (that's us) and the credit card companies (who process the payments).

Now you can ask contributors to give a little extra to cover these fees, so that their contribution (crowdfunding or donation page) can go in its entirety to the cause. It's a small effort on their part, and makes a big difference to you. It's incredible how many people are willing to help out.

If you're selling tickets or a product, you can charge a service fee from your customers.

What is it good for?

✔ Increase income
✔ Let supporters help your cause even more
✔ Campaigns that ask participants to cover transaction fees exhibit a response rate of over 85%

By having contributors cover these fees, your payment on transaction fees effectively drop from 8.5%* to approximately 0.7% - that means that if you raise $100,000, you only pay $700 in fees instead of $8,500.

Keep in mind

* Credit card companies charge 2.9% of the transaction, plus an additional $0.30.
* Platform fees are calculated according to your Drove subscription. If you don't have a plan, you will pay transaction fees of 7%. Click here to read about all of our pricing plans.
* You cannot request transaction fee coverage for monthly support campaigns.

How does it work?

On the options section of your campaign page, check the option Ask participants to cover platform and credit fees. It's not mandatory, but we recommend it.

Once you activate the fee coverage option for crowdfunding and donation campaigns, it will be automatically marked on the checkout page. Your supporters can opt to uncheck it.

With ticket sales and shops, fees will be automatically added and your buyers will not be presented with the option to opt-out.
